Safoian Named Outstanding Young Californian

North Hollywood, August 29th, 2006 – Tony Safoian, CEO of SADA Systems, was recently honored by the California Jaycees as an Outstanding Young Californian. The award was given at the California Jaycees annual awards banquet. This year the event was held on April 21st at the Warner Center Hilton.

Each year the Outstanding Young Californian award is given to individuals who may be nominated by either California Jaycee members, or members of the community. To qualify for the award recipients must be under the age of 40 as of the date of the event, and must have made meaningful contributions to society or their community. Nominations are judged against 13 categories, of which nominees must have made a significant contribution in at least three.

“To be nominated means that you have made some kind of significant contribution to society,” says Caren Glines-Spilsbury, a California Jaycee member and one of the organizers of the event. Some past Outstanding Young Californian honorees have included Richard Nixon, Dave Stewart of the Oakland A’s, Pilot Jeana Yeager who was the first woman to fly non-stop around the world, and IBF lightweight champion boxer Sugar Shane Mosley.

“It is a huge honor considering the field of honorees,” Says Safoian about receiving the award. Among this year’s recipients were the following Outstanding Young Californians:
• Blake Ross, one co-founder of Mozilla Firefox and considered by some to be Microsoft’s worst nightmare. Since being introduced the Firefox web browser has captured significant market share from Microsoft’s Internet Explorer.
• Sarah Reinersten who became the first woman amputee to complete the Hawaii Ironman Triathlon. Reinersten’s left leg was amputated at the age of seven due to illness. By the age of 11 she had learned to run on her prosthetic leg, and was competing in track events with other disabled children.

The California Junior Chamber of Commerce is (Jaycees) is the premier leadership training and community service organization adults aged 21-39 years. The California Jaycees has been serving Young Men and women of California Since 1928.
