Northrop Grumman’s Edmond Hughes, Sector Vice President O f Human Resources And Administration Receives 2006 Achievement Award From Jackson County NAACP

Edmond Hughes, Northrop Grumman (NYSE:NOC) Ship Systems sector vice president of human resources and administration was recently honored as the Moss Point-Jackson County NAACP 2006 recipient for outstanding achievement.

“The Moss Point -- Jackson County NAACP is pleased to recognize Mr. Hughes for his professional accomplishments and for setting a standard of excellence to be followed by other African Americans in the corporate world,” said Curley H. Clark, president, Moss Point-Jackson County NAACP.

Hughes leads the human resources and administration functions at Northrop Grumman’s shipbuilding facilities in Pascagoula, Gulfport and New Orleans. He is the second African American to hold the position of vice president at Northrop Grumman’s Ship Systems sector.

“I feel humbled and honored to be recognized by our local NAACP chapter,” said Hughes. “There is a new challenge each and every day, but my main goal remains constant: to continuously seek new and innovative ways to attract, develop and retain a diverse and talented workforce.”

Hughes earned his bachelor’s degree at Tougaloo College in Jackson. In 1991, he earned a master’s degree in business administration from Indiana University. He worked for General Motors and TRW Automotive before joining Northrop Grumman in March 2006.

“My family and I are proud to be a part of this community. After 21 years away, I’m excited about the opportunity to return to the state of Mississippi and work for the state’s largest private employer. I would have never thought that this opportunity would become available.”

He is a member of the board of directors for the Gulf Coast chapter of Habitat for Humanity, a member of the Gulf Coast chapter of Tougaloo College’s alumni association and a member of the Xi Zeta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity in Moss Point.
