3D World Magazine Names ShareCG.com ’Site of the Month’

CAMPBELL, CA - ShareCG.com, a new Web 2.0 portal aimed at Computer Graphics professionals and enthusiasts, opened its doors barely two months ago and has been growing almost exponentially ever since. Jacob Heller, ShareCG’s Managing Director and the driving force behind the site, said that, “We were caught off guard by the quick response to the site. So much so, that we had to scramble to add new servers and purchase additional bandwidth to keep up with the demand.”

The major CG Bulletin Boards are buzzing with accolades for this new entry into the CG portal arena, and visits are likely to become frenetic as the May issue of 3D World Magazine (www.3dworldmag.com) hits the stands and gets into the hands of its thousands of readers.

The 3D World article focuses on the site’s policy of sharing its advertising revenue with contributors, and says, in part: “Easy money? Upload your 3D/2D videos, animations, tutorials, shaders, 3D models, scripts or other materials onto the ShareCG website, and pocket 50 percent of the advertising revenue it earns for your troubles. ShareCG is a new website allowing digital artists the space to upload their work online in return for a fee every time your content is viewed, when an ad is displayed near your submission, or when an ad is clicked and converted to a sale.”

Jacob was quick to point out that, “ShareCG is all about community, and that’s what our major thrust is. Today each visitor gets the opportunity to provide feedback to the artists and contributors and each contributor has his or her own showcase portfolio on the site. As we continue to build out the site we are integrating forums and a comprehensive jobs section to make ShareCG the #1 destination for CG enthusiasts and professionals.”

Software and hardware vendors will also have showcases on the site so visitors can quickly learn about the latest offerings from these companies.

Another innovation now being implemented is to allow site visitors to grab any video and embed it anywhere on the web. In tandem with this effort, preformatted links to all videos, artwork, and other contributed material are provided so that contributors can feature their work on CG forums across the web.
