MediaSpan Online Services announced today that over 50 newspapers from across the U.S., including those from the Jones Newspaper Group, Harris Enterprises and Turley Publications, have agreed to use MediaSpan solutions to manage their publication websites.

New MediaSpan Online Services customers include: Consolidated Publishing (6 publications), Gazette Publishing (10 publications), Harris Enterprises (8 publications), Jones Newspaper Group (12 publications), Ketchikan (AK) Daily News, Lyle Printing and Publishing’s Farm & Dairy, The Messenger-Inquirer (KY), The Observer-Reporter (PA), Tooele (UT) Publishing, and Turley Publications (15 weekly newspapers).

“Our extensive legacy of providing nearly 3,000 leading publications with mission critical pre-press systems has given MediaSpan unique insight into the growing multimedia demands of local newspapers,” says Dr. F.R. (Frank) Campagnoni, MediaSpan Chief Executive Officer. “Great websites are no longer an option for newspapers, they are a necessity. Our innovative, flexible web solutions effectively increase readership and customer loyalty, which will ultimately increase newspaper revenue.”

The (Washington, PA) Observer-Reporter Online Editor Harry Funk agrees. “Newspapers have seen a circulation drop in recent years. By offering more special features on our website through MediaSpan’s Content Management System, we can maintain our readership and also provide news to people who might not be print customers.”

The Observer-Reporter website has recently gone live with its MediaSpan Online Services-driven site. Mr. Funk adds, “The MediaSpan Online Services system offers us more flexibility in designing our website. We plan to emphasize features such as podcasts and videos, providing our newspaper readers with more information than is available in print.”
