CCH and Proxix Enter Sales and Use Tax Information, Solutions Partnership Agreement

Proxix Solutions, Inc., a location intelligence company, and CCH, a Wolters Kluwer business and a leading provider of tax and accounting information, software and services, today announced that they have entered into a partnership agreement. Under the multi-part agreement, Proxix will provide tax jurisdiction geographic boundary data for CCH’s sales and use tax compliance solutions and CCH will become a reseller of Proxix Site-US Tax software and tax databases as an added value to their tax management systems.

CCH offers a suite of tax and accounting software that includes sales and use tax rates, taxability databases, research tools, tax calculation and end of month compliance solutions.

With the complexities of city, municipality and ZIP Code boundaries overlapping, assigning tax jurisdictions can be a difficult task. At the root of all sales and use tax determination is the need for accurate boundary definitions for these different taxing entities coupled with the ability to precisely locate the seller and buyer involved in a particular taxable transaction.

“CCH has long been recognized for the quality of our rates and taxability research,” said CCH Product Manager Bruce Krumlauf. “As we roll out our next-generation sales tax compliance solutions this year, we are very pleased that Proxix will provide the tax jurisdiction geographic boundary data for our future compliance platforms and products.”

As part of the Proxix/CCH relationship, Proxix will integrate FIPS/USGS state, county and municipal boundary information with its proprietary Special Tax District boundary data on a regular basis. The resulting tax jurisdiction geographic boundary data files, also referred to as geospatial files, will be integrated with CCH rates and taxability content, providing data users with more accurate tax data to drive their tax calculation systems.

CCH will also become a reseller of Proxix Site-US Tax software. Site-US Tax provides the lowest-level collection and remittance taxing authority information in addition to FIPS Place Codes, which differentiates itself from other vendors who only offer the FIPS Place Codes.

“By integrating Site-US Tax with CCH’s sales and use tax software, CCH can offer enterprises a complete and accurate tax rate determination solution that meets the challenges of today’s complex taxation issues,” said Krumlauf.

“Aligning Proxix tax jurisdiction geographic boundary data and Site-US Tax with CCH sales and use tax software brings together complimentary tax components that offer improved tax jurisdiction assignments, transaction tax information and tax rates into one solution so businesses can correctly collect and remit taxes and reduce regulatory liabilities,” stated Paul Wray, president, Proxix Solutions.
