April 15, 2007 – Avid Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: AVID) today announced the kickoff of the second annual Avid Student Representative program at NAB. Avid has doubled the number of participants this year – hand-selecting 28 students, from seven schools across the U.S. – to assist Avid staff at the company’s booth, conduct on-camera interviews with industry professionals, demonstrate the latest in portable HD workflows, and blog directly from the show floor. The program – which includes students from film and broadcast programs at the University of Texas, Chapman University, Eastern Illinois University, Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), Washington State University, Borough of Manhattan Community College, and Ball State University – is designed to expose students and emerging professionals to a major, trend-setting event and further prepare them for successful careers in the media industry.

“There’s so much hype around which tools students should use to create, edit and share content, but every professional knows that Avid is the right choice if you actually want a real paying job after school,” said Laura Fennema a student representative from Eastern Illinois University. “I’ve been using Avid products for four years now, and am really excited to be able to experience the whirlwind at NAB this year with Avid. This is an amazing opportunity for anyone who wants to pursue a career in media production, and I look forward to jumping right into the action at one of the industry’s biggest events of the year.”

Working in teams, the Avid NAB student reps will deliver fresh content in the form of blogs, podcasts, and video segments directly from the NAB show floor. In its booth, the company has constructed a live production lab – the “Create Now Studio” – which is enclosed in transparent glass so that show attendees can observe the students working on content creation projects, conducting interviews with industry professionals, and putting a variety of end-to-end HD workflows to practice. The studio activities embody the “Create Now” theme of the Avid Student Representative program, which challenges students to use portable, powerful, and low-cost production gear to transform their creative ideas into real content that will be updated daily and posted to www.avid.com/createnow.

“Our students were thrilled to be selected as Avid student reps at NAB,” said Gokhan Ozaysin, Professor of Film and Television at SCAD. “This program is a great example of how Avid really goes beyond just making tools. The company plays an active role in helping media students who have serious aspirations transition to careers in the professional world of film and television, and establish real industry connections. This truly sets Avid apart from its competitors.”
