Wavestream, a manufacturer of ompact, highly efficient solid-state power amplifiers, today announced the availability of its newest PowerStream(tm) Deck Power Amplifier (DPA). This next-generation product is a major evolution on Wavestream’s earlier design which had set the industry standard in compact form factor and efficiency when it was introduced in 2005. Wavestream’s new product now resets the bar again in terms of performance, form factor and efficiency. Wavestream’s PowerStream(tm) DPA is being showcased April 16-19, 2007 in booth C-8447 at NAB 2007 in Las Vegas, Nev.

“Our new DPA provides unparalleled performance in linearity, compact form factor, weight and efficiency for modular amplifiers needed in Comms-on-the-Move and flyaway satcom terminals,” said Chris Branscum, Chief Executive Officer of Wavestream. “By reducing weight and thermal load on the system, this easy-to-integrate and super-efficient amplifier enables the design of highly compact and more rugged terminals capable of operating in harsh, high-temperature environments. This product is designed to be the first choice for low-profile, Comms-on-the-Move and suitcase-systems.”

Wavestream’s next-generation PowerStream(tm) DPA fits 25 Watts of Ku-band RF power into a rugged package weighing in at less than three pounds and measuring 6.4“ x 5” x 1.5". It has outstanding power and linearity performance over the full extended Ku-band of 13.75 to 14.5 GHz. With fully integrated driver and power supply, Wavestream’s new DPA provides more than 50dB of temperature-compensated gain. The new DPA draws less than 200 Watts DC power at full RF drive and less than 175 watts DC power at 3dB backoff for the highest efficiency and minimum cooling requirements in the industry. This enhanced Ku-band DPA is now available for order with 25- or 16-Watt output and 48- or 28-Volt DC prime voltage.
