Baby Jane” by Greg Bruorton by ReadersMagnet will be displayed at the 2024 Guadalajara International Book Fair.

Greg Bruorton’s military experiences inspired him to write “Baby Jane: Paratrooper Discovers Abandoned Infant Near Sicily Drop Zone!” The self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet will exhibit the captivating and action-filled book at the 2024 Guadalajara International Book Fair from November 30 to December 4, 2024. The book event, which will be held from November 30 to December 8, 2024, will take place at Expo Guadalajara, Av. Mariano Otero 1499, Colonia Verde Valle, Guadalajara, Jalisco, México.

The Guadalajara International Book Fair is the most important publishing event in Ibero-America and is a grand cultural festival. It was established 38 years ago by the University of Guadalajara. The fair is designed for professionals and the general public, making it unique among book fairs worldwide.

In “Baby Jane,” a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division discovers an abandoned infant, barely hours old, hidden on the edge of the woods. Sergeant Craig Donnelly and two others quickly transported the baby (now called Baby Jane) to the Army hospital for needful treatment. Sergeant Craig Donnelly immediately bonds with the baby and begins his journey toward full adoption. Sparks fly between him and his adopted brother’s section chief, Lieutenant Debra Simmons, forcing them to focus on the problems of fraternization and the hurdles of adoption. Regardless of their disruptions, they stick to their objectives and eventually succeed.

The baby, as a product of a young black teenager and a fifteen-year-old white girl, begins her life in a precarious environment. Craig’s adopted brother and life-long friend, Rick Johnson, and his boss, Lieutenant Debra Simmons, secure immediate help for the infant at Womack Army Hospital. Sergeant Craig Donnelly’s primary mission is to adopt Baby Jane. His second objective is to find Miss Special in Lieutenant Simmons.

Gregory Bruorton delivers a poignant story of resilience, love, and the unbreakable bonds of family. “Baby Jane” is a compelling tale set against the backdrop of military life that will pull at readers’ heartstrings and make them cheer for Baby Jane and the soldiers who defend her.

Author
Originally from Vermont, Greg Bruorton spent his formative years in Alabama and later in Detroit, Michigan. Years later, in March 1980, he retired from the U.S. Army’s XVIII Airborne Corps at Fort Bragg (now Fort Liberty), North Carolina, as a senior non-commissioned officer. Greg served in the Signal Corps and later in Military Intelligence as a non-commissioned officer in charge of communications sites. From 1976 to 1979, he served as the 82nd Airborne Division Commander’s Special Security Officer, frequently briefing the Division Commander, his two assistants, and the three Brigades’ leadership.

After fourteen years with the U.S. Postal Service, he retired again in Civil Service. Shortly after moving to Little Rock, Arkansas, in December 1997, he began other exciting and delightful sidelines: writing short stories and novels based on his experiences in life and teaching guitar. He played guitar and sang in Country Clubs, taverns, retirement homes, and church socials during his two careers and long afterward.
