Pfizer today announced that the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), the nation’s leading advocacy organization for women-owned businesses as suppliers to corporations, named Pfizer as one of “America’s Top Corporations for Women’s Business Enterprises.”

“WBENC is proud to honor Pfizer and its supplier diversity program for the third consecutive year,” said WBENC Interim President Linda Denny. “Pfizer is a leader in supporting innovative and highly competitive women’s business enterprises.”

This annual listing of “America’s Top Corporations for Women’s Business Enterprises” is one of the nations most recognized awards for supplier diversity. Pfizer was recognized as one of 16 corporations with programs offering equal access to contracting opportunities for women business enterprises.

“We are honored to be named as a top corporation for supplier diversity by WBENC,” said Lisa Martin, Senior Vice President for Pfizer Worldwide Procurement. “Supplier Diversity creates value for both women- and minority-owned businesses and Pfizer. We are proud of the relationships we have built with diverse businesses.”

Pfizer and other U.S. corporations that support supplier diversity will receive the Women’s Business Enterprise Award on March 30 in Dallas, Texas.

Pfizer’s Commitment to Diversity

Pfizer’s strong commitment to building a more inclusive, diverse and innovative culture is key to achieving the corporate mission of becoming the world’s most valued company. Making opportunities available to women- and minority-owned business enterprises and small businesses through Pfizer’s Supplier Diversity Program is an important first step that creates jobs, economic development and a variety of mutual benefits.

As a corporate member of WBENC, Pfizer has participated in numerous WBENC networking events and provided support for many WBENC initiatives. Pfizer has also been active with the National Minority Supplier Development Council, the leading advocacy and certification organization for minority-owned businesses.

Pfizer has recently received national recognition for its diversity practices including three consecutive DiversityBusiness.com “Top Organizations for Multicultural Business Opportunities” awards. In addition, Hispanic Network Magazine named Pfizer to its 2006 lists of “Best Companies for Supplier Diversity” and “Best Companies for Diversity.” Also in 2006, Pfizer was recognized for the eighth time as one of the “100 Best Companies for Working Mothers” by Working Mother Magazine. And, Pfizer received a perfect score of 100 percent in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s “2006 Corporate Equality Index” recognizing fair and equitable workplace policies.
