EPSRC Welcomes Increase to Science Budget

EPSRC welcomes the announcement by the Treasury that the Science budget will rise to just under £4bn by 2010-11.

“The favourable and early settlement over the forthcoming CSR period for the science budget is a positive endorsement by the Government of the ability of the UK research base to address the challenges and aspirations of the 10 Year Science and Innovation Investment Framework,” said EPSRC’s Interim Chief Executive Dr Randal Richards.

“We welcome the opportunity to strengthen our effective partnership with the Technology Strategy Board, following its establishment as a Non-Departmental Public Body. This will help to ensure the maximum economic impact from the research supported by EPSRC.”
