WEBWIRE

SINGAPORE – Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT), has been awarded a four-year full-operations and managed services contract by Warid Telecom for its GSM and Canopy® networks in major cities and sub-districts in the eastern part of Bangladesh.

Motorola commenced operating and maintaining the GSM and Canopy networks with world-class service levels concurrently with the rollout of Warid’s commercial services in March 2007.

The contract includes managed services covering the operations and maintenance of GSM Base Station Systems (BSS), transmission quality, as well as operations and maintenance of the MOTOwi4 Canopy systems used for last mile customer connectivity.

“We currently manage networks and processes for over 100 public and private wireless operators globally, said Simon Leung, president, Motorola Asia Pacific, “This allows our customers such as Warid to focus on their core businesses and not the complexity of their networks.

Motorola’s Managed Services enhance network operations by providing out-tasking and outsourcing options to meet individual and customized business requirements. Motorola offers innovative build, operate and managed network services where key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs) are jointly defined and agreed with our clients predominately on a multi-year agreement.

“The outsourcing of network operations and maintenance to Motorola enables us to focus resources on executing go-to-market strategies as well as create better customer experiences with the new GSM networks,” said Marwan Zawaydeh, CTO, Warid Group. “As such, this managed services contract with Motorola benefits Warid Telecom beyond cost efficiencies as it enhances the company’s overall business agility.”
