New CEA Study Finds Consumers Want Premium Services With Their Electronics Purchases

WEBWIRE

Consumers have a strong interest in purchasing premium services along with consumer electronics (CE) products, finds a new study by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA®). Five of the top 10 most popular CE-related purchases were services, with consumers ranking home network setup service as the most important service they buy.

“Consumers clearly understand that getting the most out of their electronics purchase goes beyond delivery and installation; they need premium services to complete the total entertainment experience,” said CEA Director of Research Joe Bates. “This presents retailers with a real opportunity to package services at the initial point-of-sale to differentiate themselves and generate more business.”

The study gauged consumer interest in purchasing the following products and services: acoustic treatment, device controls, entertainment furniture, extended warranties, home device performance calibration, home network setup, home theater, installation assistance, media servers, multi-room A/V systems, performance plans and upgrades, product demonstrations, speakers, system design and consultation, video displays and video games.

“Beyond Delivery and Installation: Premium Services Consumers Want (March 2007)” was conducted in November/December 2006. It was designed and formulated by CEA Market Research, the most comprehensive source of sales data, forecasts, consumer research and historical trends for the consumer electronics industry.
