“Which Church Are You?” by Dr. Darrow Perkins, Jr. comes out in The Festival of Books in 2022

“Which Church Are You?” (AuthorHouse, 2017) by Dr. Darrow Perkins, Jr. will be featured at the Tucson Festival of Books in spring 2022. This book discusses the church’s challenges and issues, specifically within the seven churches of Asia Minor in the Book of Revelation. The book begins with the question, “How can people strive to be the church that Jesus is returning to receive?”
 
Nowadays, the church is similar to how it was when the author was growing up in Baton Rouge and New Orleans, Louisiana, in the 70s and 80s, and he understands that as times change, things change. And the biggest change that he observed, was the church’s lack of commitment to its given mandate and ministries. There are so many distractions today that people tend to work God into their personal schedules, rather than working their schedules around God and His ministry. It’s one of the most common and prevalent issues in most communities, and Dr. Perkins wants his readers, to include the church, to consider the fact that this is not how it should be.
 
“Which Church Are You?” explores not only the church’s challenges but also its members. It may not seem a trivial matter to some, but it is a growing problem, or rather a tumor, that is found in its believers, that even their time with God is made convenient. He believes that when it comes to worship, it is important to spend time with God; as stated, “We must strive to be the church that Jesus envisions us to be.”

Dr. Darrow Perkins, Jr., has served as the pastor of the Mesa View Baptist Church of Poway, California, since May 2002. He has three (adult) children and two grandchildren, and has been married to his wife, Teresa since 1985. He graduated from Andersonville Theological Seminary in Camilla, GA with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology (Summa Cum Laude) in April 1998; a Master’s Degree in Theology (Summa Cum Laude) in October 2000, and a Doctorate Degree in Theology in May 2001. He is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Ministry degree with emphasis in Pastoral Leadership from the Andersonville Theological Seminary (www.andersonvilleseminary.com).
 
He is also the founder and president of Darrow Perkins, Jr. Ministries, and conference speaker who equip the church of Jesus Christ through Christian Stewardship seminars and Bible-based books. He served his country honorably and retired from the United States Marine Corps as a Chief Warrant Officer W3 on September 1, 2003, after 20 years of honest and faithful service.
