In the novel, Africa is its own character, described beautifully in its landscapes and brutally in the period of the Rhodesian independence war’s societal strife. Guy writes with conviction, and the action is portrayed in such a realistic way that his characters are in a state of actual peril. The reader can feel the unrelenting heat and sense the stifling environment of a land entrenched in a civil war. The romance part of the story is very human—surrounded by fostered hostility from people seeking political and personal profit, there is no genuine morality—just two people fighting for each other.
 
The book encapsulates a fragment of African history. Guy’s savvy as a movie producer is on full display, giving readers the front seat to an endearing and heart-racing story.

About the Author:
Guy Quigley was born in Ireland and hails from a third-generation Irish thespian and musical family He and his wife, Wendy, relocated to the United States in 1983. They have three children and five grandchildren. In writing his novel “The Rebel Son,” Guy drew heavily on his life experiences in Africa, which include ownership of a 40,000-acre cattle ranch in Zambia and a real estate company in Rhodesia (Zimbabwe). He was forced to cease operations due to the explosive Liberation War. In 1989 he formed The Quigley Corporation creating the zinc lozenge market for the common-cold by developing and introducing the award winning franchise Cold-Eeze® to the US marketplace. He has been the Producer and/or Executive Producer of six motion pictures to date. The latest movie, “Impuratus” is due for release in the summer 2022.
