Dr. Booker Williams Presents His Narrative on How Systemic Oppression and Racism Stopped America From Being Truly United

The Yoke of Racism

WEBWIRE

At the hands of racism, people of color suffered oppression, discrimination, brutality, and murder, all because of their skin pigment. These racial injustices go way back and have plagued the great land of the free, the United States of America. But how can you call America the land of freedom when people who have darker colors are discriminated against and still bear the yoke of oppression?

In a thought-provoking book, Dr. Booker Williams, a Doctor of Education degree holder in Organizational Leadership, shares his two cents on the disease that has killed thousands of innocent lives—racism. Dr. Williams presents “The Ugly Color of Race in America Continues!”

The book provides a crash course on the history of discrimination and the negative implications it has created for African-Americans in the past and in the present. It is also a call-to-action for people to stop standing by and idly allowing racism to chew up the liberties that our predecessors have struggled to achieve. Dr. Williams’ narrative allows an opportunity for self-evaluation. He quotes A. Philip Randolph’s statement - “If you are comfortable with my oppression, you are my oppressor.” He invites solidarity and encourages everyone who does not agree with racism to stand up and exercise dissent, which is the very essence of democracy. It presents racism as a festering wound and one of the largest chasms that divide the nation. Unless it is eradicated, there can never be a truly united, United States of America.
