The Pitchfork Music Festival is heading to the UK for the first time, as this year marks the brand’s 25th anniversary.

The London festival, which will run between 10-14 November, will take place across various different venues in the city, including the Roundhouse, Village Underground and Fabric.

The line-up will include Bobby Gillespie & Jehnny Beth, Black Midi, Moses Boyd, Stereolab, Girl Band and Iceage.

Following the festival in London, the Pitchfork Music Festival will head to Paris from 16-20 November, which will be the tenth year the event has hit the French capital.

“After an incredibly difficult year for artists, fans, and our music community, we’re excited to celebrate the return of live music with so many legendary venues across two of the most important music cities in the world,” says Pitchfork’s editor Puja Patel.

Music publication NME wrote: “The festival, which began in Chicago, has since expanded to Paris, and will now touch down in the UK.”

In an article titled “The inaugural London Pitchfork Festival looks excellent”, Time Out magazine wrote: “Since 2006, the highly secretive cabal of music mavens who run Pitchfork have, for reasons we’ll never know, decreed that their annual live music festivals will take place only in Chicago and Paris. But this year is different. Special, even. Finally, Londoners have been deemed worthy of a lovingly-curated line-up of some of the most hyped artists around.”

BBC music news journalist Georgie Rogers also interviewed Anna Meredith on BBC Radio 6 Music, where the pair discussed the festival. Listen to the playback here.

The UK is currently set to remove all COVID-19 restrictions on July 19.
