University of Pittsburgh Embraces Cloud HR with Oracle

One of the nation’s top public institutions for higher education and research moves HR processes to the cloud to improve efficiency and user experience for more than 14,000 employees

Austin, Texas – WEBWIRE

The University of Pittsburgh, one of the nation’s top public institutions for higher education and research, has implemented Oracle Fusion Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM) to provide a better employee experience for staff, faculty, and students. With Oracle Cloud HCM, the organization moved its paper-based processes online to help improve access to HR information, strengthen employee connections across the university, and create a more sustainable workplace.

Founded in 1787, the University of Pittsburgh’s community includes more than 33,000 students on its five distinct campuses and nearly 14,000 staff members, whose goal is to advance the university’s legacy of academic excellence, community service, and research innovation. A member of the prestigious Association of American Universities, the institution ranks in the top tier of public research universities in the United States. To improve the ease, transparency, and speed of HR, the university replaced its costly on-premises HR system with Oracle Cloud HCM.

With Oracle Cloud HCM, University of Pittsburgh employees can complete HR tasks more efficiently and with greater accuracy. The university will also benefit from improved employee visibility and enhanced analytics about their workforce. For example, the university’s administrative users can log in to the online HR portal, see the status of a request and where it is in the approval cycle to identify delays and quickly address issues.

“Our leadership sees HR as a strategic imperative and is always pushing us to improve. On-premises systems aren’t built to be updated at a pace that keeps up with innovation, but with Oracle Cloud we can stay ahead of the curve,” said Michelle Fullem, acting assistant vice chancellor, HR operations, University of Pittsburgh. “Oracle Cloud HCM allows us to have immediate access to new updates as soon as they are available and helps improve accuracy and efficiency in HR processes through an intuitive user experience.”

“Higher education institutions have faced many recent challenges. These organizations have had to adapt to new pandemic-related safety measures and rapidly deliver online curriculums, while working to drive down costs and create long-term efficiency,” said Chris Leone, senior vice president of development for Oracle HCM. “Oracle HCM helps these institutions make more informed decisions and provide better experiences for their employees, faculty, and staff, so they can spend more time providing a great service to students instead of getting bogged down in administrative tasks.”
