easyJet and easyJet holidays have also created a new online Traffic Light System information page to help customers navigate green, amber and red list destination requirements so they plan and prepare for travel. The page will be updated with the latest status when the UK Government makes any announcements and serves as a useful resource for customers as countries move between the traffic light categories.

Ali Gayward, UK Country Manager of easyJet, commented:

“We know how much people are longing for a getaway, so we’ve increased our flights to Green list destinations to take as many customers away as possible to reunite them with friends and family or on a long-awaited holiday this summer. We can’t wait to take our customers to Portugal, a popular summer destination that offers something for all types of travellers.

We are committed to a safe restart and are confident this can happen while protecting our customers. We also expect the number of countries on the Green list to grow next month to enable safe travel to many of our popular European summer destinations, and we have flexible policies so customers can book with confidence and change their plans if they need to.”

easyJet holidays has confirmed that it is set to restart its holidays to Portugal as planned from 17 May, with breaks to Albufeira, Vilamoura and Alvor leading the charge as the most popular destinations. Package holidays to Portugal this summer are available from £359 per person at easyJet.com/en/holidays. The holiday operator is also supporting customers with a travel information page detailing everything they need to know for upcoming holidays.
All customers booking flights with easyJet and holidays with easyJet holidays benefit from industry-leading flexible booking policies under its ’Protection Promise’, which means that customers can book now with confidence that if their plans change, so can their booking.

All easyJet customers will now be able to change their flights this summer without a change fee, at any time up to two hours before departure, or request a voucher providing even more last-minute flexibility. Unlike other airlines, there are no restrictions on dates or destination; customers can transfer to any flights currently on sale up to the end of September 2022, and to any other destination on the airline’s network which spans 35 countries across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. This means that if some travel restrictions are impacting their destination country, such as self-isolation in destination or on return to the UK, customers can easily change their trip to another country on easyJet’s network. Plus, should a mandatory hotel quarantine impact a customer’s travel destination this summer, customers can now request a refund for their flight within four weeks before departure if the restriction is still in place, even if their flights are still operating.

For package holiday bookings, under its existing Protection Promise easyJet holidays customers only need to pay their balance 28 days before travel, and if they need to make any changes or simply change their mind customers can cancel 28 days or more before departure and receive their deposit back as easyJet holidays credit with any further payments refunded back to the original payment method. easyJet holidays has now enhanced it Covid commitments in line with the traffic light system for any customers due to travel this summer up to 30 September 2021. It means should a holiday destination feature on the ’amber’ list, customers can make fee free changes within 28 days all the way up to 24 hours before travel. Or should a destination be on the ’red’ list, holidays here won’t go ahead, and as the planned departure date gets closer, customers can make fee free changes within 28 days or easyJet holidays will cancel the holiday no later than seven days before travel with customers given a full refund.
easyJet has partnered with approved testing firms across Europe so that customers can get access to convenient and affordable testing, including PCR tests from £60 if required for their trip when they book flights and holidays at easyJet.com. The airline has also launched a new travel insurance policy which includes COVID-19 cover as standard. The new COVID-19 travel insurance will cover customers who are diagnosed with COVID-19 ahead of a trip, providing the necessary rearrangements or refunds, as well as cover to customers for any required medical care if diagnosed with COVID-19 during their trip. Customers who are unable to return home due to being diagnosed with the virus are also covered for additional accommodation, necessary medical assistance, and the cost of returning home safely.
The safety and wellbeing of all customers and crew remains easyJet’s highest priority and the airline continues to have a number of biological safety measures in place onboard in line with guidance from the relevant authorities. This includes daily enhanced cabin disinfection effective in protecting against coronavirus for at least 24 hours and mandatory mask wearing for customers and crew. All easyJet aircraft are already fitted with HEPA filters, similar to those used in hospitals, which filter 99.97% of airborne contaminants in the cabin, including viruses and bacteria.

About easyJet

easyJet is Europe’s leading airline offering a unique and winning combination of the best route network connecting Europe’s primary airports, with great value fares and friendly service.

easyJet flies on more of Europe’s most popular routes than any other airline and carried more than 96 million passengers in 2019 – more than 16 million travelling for business. The airline has over 300 aircraft on nearly 1000 routes to more than 150 airports across 35 countries. Over 300 million Europeans live within one hour’s drive of an easyJet airport.

easyJet aims to be a good corporate citizen, employing people on local contracts in eight countries across Europe in full compliance with national laws and recognising their trade unions. The airline supports a number of local charities and also has a corporate partnership with UNICEF which has raised over £14m for the most vulnerable children since it was established in 2012.

The airline takes sustainability seriously and is the first major airline to operate carbon neutral flights across its whole network. The airline is achieving this goal by offsetting the carbon emissions from the fuel used for all of its flights. The airline sees this as an interim measure until new technology becomes available to de-carbonise aviation. In the meantime, easyJet will continue to support innovative technology, operate efficiently and aim to fill most of its seats. Since 2000, we have improved our carbon emission per passenger kilometre efficiency by over one third and we have a target to reach a 38% reduction by 2022.

Innovation is in easyJet’s DNA – from our launch over 25 years ago when we changed the way people fly to the present day where we lead the industry in digital, web, engineering and operational innovations to make travel more easy and affordable for our passengers.

The airline was named as Britain’s Most Admired Company of 2020 in the transport sector, retaining the leading position for a second year running. Britain’s Most Admired Companies study is the longest-running annual survey of corporate reputation in the UK.
