Workers’ Memorial Day Serves as a Reminder of the Importance of Industrial Hygiene Testing Services

Each year, April 28^th is recognized as Workers’ Memorial Day in the United States. It also happens to be the same day that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was established back in 1971. Workers’ Memorial Day is a time to honor and remember the workers who have been killed, disabled, injured, or made unwell by their work, and to acknowledge the grievous suffering experienced by families and communities, and to recommit ourselves to the fight for a safe and healthy workplace for all workers, according to OSHA.

Workers’ health and safety are critical as there are thousands of fatalities on the job each year in the United States and millions more are injured. In last year’s proclamation from the California Governor recognizing Workers’ Memorial Day, he stated that as recently as 2018, 422 workers in the state had lost their life due to work-related accidents and illnesses.
