Breathtaking Alaska, The Last Frontier

Author Alan Adaschik invites readers to experience this awesome location called Alaska - its wonders, beautiful locales, and sprawling parks, in his book “An Alaskan Adventure: A Travelogue and Environmental Treatise.”

Author Alan Adaschik’s dream was to visit Alaska, America’s last frontier and a place that is abundant with wildlife and unspoiled wilderness. Upon retirement, Al and his wife Gayle, sold their property and bought a thirty-seven-foot motorhome to turn his dream into reality.
“An Alaskan Adventure” is a story about Al and Gayle, which showcases the places they visited and the memorable things they experienced on their trip. Their adventure begins in Indiana, after visiting Al’s relatives who reside there. After battling the traffic jams in Chicago, Al and Gayle traversed I-94 across the Northern Great Plains, driving through Minnesota, North Dakota, and Montana as they traveled.
In Montana, they headed North, visited Glacier National Park, and proceeded on to tour Yoho, Banff, and Jasper National Parks in Canada. As they continued, Al & Gayle reached the Alaskan Highway, which brought them to Alaska; making Al’s dream come true. The rest of the book is about their tour around the Alaska Triangle, defined by the cities of Tok, Fairbanks, and Anchorage, a total distance of 900 miles. While traversing this triangle, their goals were to find gold in one of the many streams they crossed and a Wooly Mammoth frozen in a glacier, so Al could try eating a hamburger that truly spans the ages. They also took side trips to the White Mountains National Recreation Area, Denali National Park, The Top of the World Highway, and the towns of Homer and Chicken.
An Alaskan Adventure is not just a narrative about touring the state of Alaska. Al is an environmentalist who believes that the beauty like we find in Alaska is transitory and slowly vanishing because of overpopulation. If human beings, continue to reproduce indiscriminately, our beautiful planet, which is the only one we have, will sink into environmental collapse. Once this happens, the effects will be irreversible, forcing our children to live on a dead and dying planet.
