Utah skiing has certainly been affected by the climate this year. Known for incredible powder skiing Utah’s ski resorts have not seen the snowfall this season to offer the deep stuff that Utah is known for world wide.
Is global warming having an effect on Utah skiing? It has certainly started to make a difference in the way skiing has been effected in Bolivia as the only ski resort in that country, Chacattaya, struggles to stay open because of the lack of snow. A startling 80% of the glacier has melted in the last 20 years according to Jamie Argollo director for the Institute of Geological Investigations at the University of Andes in La Paz.
The evidence seems to be unfavorable and unpredictable as the Utah Ski Industry seems to be moving full steam ahead and speaks of opening new resorts and the relocation of major players in the ski industry move into northern Utah .
