Twenty Years of Exhibitions”, which is devoted to the history of the General Staff building as an exhibition complex of the State Hermitage. The price of the ticket also includes independent viewing of the displays included in the fixed route around the General Staff building.

The exhibition display is spread across various spaces within the General Staff building and spans eleven rooms. The main part of the exhibition is presented in the attic above the vaults of the famous arch of the General Staff. The display invites people to find out about the history of the General Staff building, to view rare photographs of the mammoth restoration process that turned a historical monument into a modern-day museum, and to recall the most interesting exhibitions that have been held here over the last two decades. The exhibition also features documents from the Hermitage’s archives, old exhibition posters, and archaeological finds dating from the 18th–20th centuries that were made on the site during the restoration work.

Visits to the exhibition are possible as part of a guided tour group of five persons on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays in an afternoon time slot at 3 pm. The duration of the visit, including the guided tour and independent viewing of the displays is 2 hours. We recommend arriving 15 minutes before the start of the time slot for which you have tickets. Ticket-holders who arrive late for the tour will be able to independently view the displays in the General Staff building included in the fixed route for the remaining duration of the time slot for which the ticket was purchased.

Electronic tickets for a guided tour of the exhibition can be purchased through the official museum website. Tickets for the tour can also be bought on the day, for the current date and time slot, from the ticket office of the General Staff building, provided any remain available. The price of a ticket with a tour is 1000 roubles.

This price applies to all categories of visitors.

Everyone entering any of the museum premises must wear individual protection.

Please note that access to the exhibition requires the use of stairs and that the attic area is not fitted with ramps or lifts. Access to the exhibition will therefore be difficult for anyone with restricted mobility.

The exhibition “The Hermitage in the General Staff Building. Twenty Years of Exhibitions” will run until 31 December 2021.
