IKEA U.S. announces the availability of its new and improved app, transforming its previous in-store companion app into a shopping platform where customers can browse and purchase products in a simpler, more convenient way. Via the new platform, customers will now be able to buy products directly through the IKEA app for home delivery and pick up at the store. The updated IKEA app builds upon the many ways that IKEA U.S. continues to transform its business to be more convenient and accessible for customers wherever they are and however they like to shop.

A fresh, new design allows users to seamlessly navigate the app, making it easier for them to find, discover, and get inspired by the IKEA range of products. Among the new features, the updated IKEA app includes an inspirational feed of product recommendations, engaging content and campaigns, which customers can choose to personalize by selecting their favorite products. The IKEA app also enables customers to create a profile and get access to their digital IKEA Family card. The app will be continuously updated over time to introduce more features and ensure an even better customer experience.

“At IKEA, we are on a journey to transform the way we meet our customers, and the IKEA app is an important step we’ve taken to become more accessible and convenient to the many,” says Umesh Sripad, Chief Digital Officer, IKEA U.S. “One of the reasons customers enjoy visiting IKEA is to get shopping ideas and inspiration, and the shoppable app makes it possible for them to get inspired and complete their purchase from the convenience of their mobile device.”

IKEA originally launched the IKEA app in July 2019 in Sweden, France, the Netherlands, UK, Ireland, Spain, Canada, and Japan. So far, it has been downloaded by 4.9 million users and is now available in the U.S.

The IKEA app is in line with the Customer Data Promise that was announced in January of last year. The promise ensures people are in full control of their data. IKEA customers are empowered to make their own decisions by creating a democratic digital design. Through a centralized data control panel, customers will get contextual access to their settings where they can change and personalize their inspirational feed. The shoppable app —along with the new digital tools launched as part of the Customer Data Promise— was designed and developed in collaboration with Work & Co, the IKEA digital product partner.

Additionally, IKEA Retail U.S. has made other significant investments to transform its business, including new, smaller format stores in city centers – currently in Manhattan and Queens, New York City; lower priced shipping & delivery options; and Click & Collect and TaskRabbit assembly services.

The IKEA app is currently available in the App Store for both iPhone iOS and Android OS.
