It is necessary to make plans to cohesive workers so a drink or tapas on Friday may be exactly what the team needs to disconnect on these dates. An informal event like this can provide extra motivation to end the week and face the next one with energy, even in a virtual way. There is also the possibility to do yoga classes online.

The coronavirus crisis has accelerated the digital revolution planned for the next five years. The unexpected emergence of information technology in every aspect of our lives has changed the paradigm of business management. The management and human resources departments of all companies are no exception, and new trends are emerging in the sector that remain and promise to take hold in 2021. Jorge Zuņiga, an entrepreneur and business leader from Costa Rica, provides strategies that will help business leaders become better in the new year.

The challenges faced in 2020 have taught business leaders that nothing can be taken for granted, that the conditions present in the market and consumers can change drastically and, therefore, they must be prepared to adapt to the new circumstances, whatever they may be.  Keeping distances is a fact that will be maintained for a long time and, in this scenario, the new challenge will be how companies will apply equipment management methods that telework 100%. The coming months will be key to defining the restructuring of leadership models, one that rewards those leaders who give space for growth, confidence and creativity to their workers.

The team is important.
Says Zuņiga, “It is necessary to make plans to cohesive workers so a drink or tapas on Friday may be exactly what the team needs to disconnect on these dates. An informal event like this can provide extra motivation to end the week and face the next one with energy, even in a virtual way. There is also the possibility to do yoga classes online.”

The vast majority of meetings are to put everyone back on the same boat or to improve processes. The good thing is that you can anticipate the problem. The solution is by making ’ceremonies’ of agile methodologies. For example with Daily Standups, a daily meeting that is done standing, only 15 minutes and in which each person answers three questions: what did I do yesterday?; What am I going to do today?; What’s blocking me? Thanks to this ceremony everyone is in the same boat.

2021 will be an ideal exercise to emphasize the experience of employees. One of the expected innovations in human resources is the consolidation of professional experience as the tangential axis of any organization. Happy employees are not only synonymous with healthy people, but also productivity, loyalty to the business, and commitment to global long-term goals.

To prevent workers from deciding to leave the company, it is necessary to know their motivations to stay; but, in the event of a drop, the ’exit interview’ can be useful in closing the employment relationship and investigating the reasons that push the worker to finish his career at the company. On the other hand, another novelty in human resources is the use of big data to optimize the performance of human management and to speed up the recruitment process.  “The developments and trends in human resources are multiple,” asserts Zuņiga, “and the possibilities for the future promised by digital technologies 4.0 and virtuality seem to have no limit on their use. Contrary to what was feared in the past, technology has become one of the great pillars for humanizing processes and managing talent.”

This next 2021 will be a year with many challenges and new projects. That’s why a team needs a solid foundation, a step-by-step guide to achieving every proposed goal.  Small and medium-sized companies will need in 2021 what is known as the Project Management Plan, which has these five steps:

Determine the scope of each project: it consists of defining the final result, and what is needed to achieve it. For example, you want to capture a certain number of customers (this would be the end result) and the actions to be implemented are marketing campaigns, content creation, etc.

Create a project schema: After defining the previous step, it’s time to visually project it for your team. Here you can create a document accessible to all, which shows the panorama and status of the project, advances in communication issues, budgets, etc.

Planning: This step should detail each action along with its attempted completion dates, to make the project more understandable to the entire team.

Role assignment: When assigning roles and responsibilities, not only is an employee list created for each goal, but you should also consider how resources need to be distributed to achieve great results.

Review the project with the team: Finally, it’s important that everyone in the company works together in the Project Management Plan to see if all tasks were assigned correctly and each team member has enough time to complete them.

“As a project manager, it’s important to explain what each strategy means to implement to each member of your team. What’s more, the process of creating a project management plan is always a constant. As your plan progresses, you’ll find that you’ll need some revisions and adjustments, so that everyone’s effort is successful,” concludes Zuņiga.
