Sasaki Featured in Boston Globe for Copley Square Redesign Project

WEBWIRE

Sasaki recently announced our new project with the City of Boston to rethink Copley Square — with the goal of creating a more equitable, enjoyable public space for this iconic Boston destination.

Sasaki is delighted to see the project featured in The Boston Globe, as the kickoff is just beginning with an initial public engagement phase and will extend into design and implementation over the next two years. We’re hoping that with this added exposure, the public engagement and feedback will be robust and help deliver a public space that does justice to the legacy of Copley Square and Boston parks as a whole.

“We have a much-loved square which hasn’t seen any updates since the late ’80s and wasn’t designed for the kind of traffic it now gets in the 21st century,” said Associate Principal Kate Tooke, ASLA, PLA, lead landscape architect on the Copley Square project.

Part of the engagement process is a survey via an online poll about Copley’s future — allowing the public to weigh in on how they’d like to see the space evolve. The survey will be available until December 31, 2020. It’s an incredibly exciting prospect, and we’re looking forward to seeing it come to fruition!
