At Dropbox, we’re always looking to hire talented people with integrity and grit—characteristics core to military veterans. It’s important to Dropbox that we’re intentional about building an inclusive culture, and we should all care about ensuring our veterans go on to great careers after their service.“ - Drew Houston, Co-founder and CEO, Dropbox

For many, 2020 has been far from easy. We’ve been faced with massive challenges, and many of us have struggled to find ways to cope. In times like these, we look to communities that represent leadership, hope, and resilience amidst the chaos—one of the greatest of which is our veterans, who we proudly celebrate and honor for their service on Veteran’s Day.

Veterans are a vital part of our community and we’ve always focused on making sure they are supported and feel a part of our family. So we’re excited to announce that we’re launching a recruitment program targeted at career opportunities for veterans to thrive and grow at Dropbox. This is one of the steps we’re taking towards increased veteran representation. We’re starting with a new landing page, bespoke training modules for hiring managers and recruiters, and we’ve identified specific roles for which veteran applicants would be especially well-qualified. We’re confident that veterans can make meaningful impact at Dropbox with the broad set of skills they possess.

This program has been a long time coming. Ever since we launched our Vets@ employee resource group (ERG) in 2017, we’ve been looking for opportunities to build a culture that is more inclusive of veterans. In this ERG, veterans, military families, and allies come together to build community and support veterans, both internally and externally, through strategic partnerships and volunteer efforts. And our Vets@ community has been integral in the creation of the recruitment program. We’ve also designated November as Veterans Appreciation Month, which provides even more opportunities to help both employees and their communities at large understand and band together with our veterans.

As Dropbox goes Virtual First, we’ll have increased opportunity to create a more diverse workforce by hiring from different backgrounds and locations. We’re always looking for outside-the-box thinkers and strategic problem solvers who can apply their past experiences towards their current endeavors. That means actively looking outside traditional hiring pools and actively seeking out candidates like veterans, who can bring a whole new level of expertise and leadership to all of our teams.

For Dropbox, diversity, equity, and inclusion is about removing barriers for everyone, so that we all have the opportunity to fully use our talents. We still have a lot of work ahead of us, but we are excited about the journey we are on to increase representation and support of our veterans. We believe the world can work better, and we know veterans can help us get there.
