OUP titles awarded by the Federation of Indian Publishers

We are delighted that OUP titles have once again been recognized at the Awards for Excellence in Book Production organized by the Federation of Indian Publishers, with four books receiving awards for 2020. This marks the second consecutive year that OUP has won, with Oxford Student Atlas taking first prize in 2019.

The Awards form part of the annual Delhi Book Fair, which has established itself as an important cultural event in the region and showcases progress made by Indian publishers, allowing them to reach a wide number of readers with their titles. This year, the fair went virtual to allow it to continue amid lockdown conditions caused by the pandemic.

The winning OUP titles for 2020 included John Stratton Hawley’s Krishna’s Playground which won First Prize in General Books (English), and explores Vrindavan—a beloved place that many call the spiritual capital of India; higher education resource the Oxford Student Atlas which took First Prize in Reference Books (Hindi); Oxford English-English-Odia Dictionary (second edition), which claimed First Prize in Reference Books (Regional Languages); and English-learning offering New Pathways: An Interactive Course in English, which was awarded Second Prize in Text Books (English).

Speaking of the awards, Paras Bansal, Product Director at OUP India, commented: ‘I’m thankful to the Federation of Publishers for these awards. I would especially like to congratulate our product and production teams for the effort that they always undertake to bring out products that adhere to our commitment to quality. All OUP products have a strong pedagogical foundation that supports contemporary learning and teaching, which helps improve learning outcomes.’
