The State University of New Jersey Increases Performance, Reliability and Manageability of Rutgers Regional Network with M-Series Routing Platform

SUNNYVALE, Calif., January 8, 2007 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced that Rutgers University, The State University of New Jersey, is deploying Juniper Networks M-series routers to improve the reliability, performance and manageability of its network. The Rutgers Regional Network (RRN) - the University’s extranet service - connects the University’s more than 50,000 students and faculty across its three metropolitan campuses to Internet and Internet2 services, and Rutgers’ peer institutions in the state of New Jersey. Juniper Networks was chosen for its ability to provide best-in-class core routing technology designed to enhance network management policies for Rutgers University’s Internet services.

"Juniper Networks M-series routers will significantly help to simplify the University’s network operations" said Michael Scarpellino, telecommunications analyst and manager of network architecture at Rutgers University. "By providing network administrators with a finer degree of control over the network, we can effectively address the traffic and scalability requirements and ensure that Rutgers remains a premier public research institution" Rutgers University selected Juniper Networks’ M10i routing platform for its robust JUNOS operating system and scalability. The M-series enables RRN to consolidate multiple networks onto a single IP/MPLS infrastructure, allowing them to reduce operating cost without compromising application performance.

"This win is testament to our commitment to higher education and our ability to provide technology solutions that deliver high-performance routing with reliable quality of service (QoS)" said Haywood Talcove, vice president of Government and Education, Juniper Networks. "We are thrilled that Rutgers University has invested in Juniper solutions to serve the increasing network demands of its university-wide infrastructure. The decision to diversify the RRN’s existing platform will undoubtedly improve the efficiency of its network and further promote academic collaboration and innovation"

Deployment of Juniper Networks M-series routers throughout Rutgers University has begun and is anticipated to be complete by the end of January 2007.
