WEBWIRE

“This book has been making the rounds at different book fairs in America and around the world- truly a novel worthy of a movie adaptation.”

“Then Sings My Soul” is the creation of the Canadian-born widowed mother, grandma, and great-grandmother Doreen L. Hatton, who grew up in a large family. Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Doreen’s new book is a gripping, realistic portrait of heartache and the process of healing, which in cases of tragedy often only truly begins at the moment of forgiveness. As the family in the story works their healing through their music, readers will discover God working through the power of music to heal their fractured lives.

Lily Langston’s husband Samuel gets involved in a fatal car accident late one night while crossing the street to his home. The driver, Aaron Turner, a fifteen-year-old, has only a learner’s permit and should not have been driving alone in the middle of the night. Lily and her family are Christians who believe in forgiveness. The family convinces the court to only give Aaron probation and community service. Fifteen-year-old Rose, however, cannot forgive and is angry because Aaron doesn’t go to jail or pay for killing her dad. Lily and her girls are talented musicians. They perform often at church and community functions. It is discovered when coping with the loss of Samuel’s death this Aaron too sings and plays guitar. Together they experience the joy of redemption, and their spirits are healed via the power of music.

About the Author

Doreen L. Hatton was born and raised in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. She was one of thirteen children and the sixth and young girl in the family. Her brothers came after her. She was naturally very shy and introverted; however, one night she climbed up on top of a little hill on their property. She was six or seven then. As she looked up into the night sky, she was thrilled by what she saw – billions of twinkling stars, twinkling just for her, she thought. That very moment, she knew God and His Son loved her because they had created all that beauty for her and, yes, for all children like her. The experience led her to know that she is loved not only by her family but also by God and His precious Son.
