Syndial changes name to Eni Rewind

San Donato Milanese (MI) – WEBWIRE

Syndial, Eni’s environmental company, has changed its name to Eni Rewind. The new name is an acronym for Remediation & Waste Into Development and of course also connotes a return to a previous time, reflecting the main goals of Eni’s remediation projects and new circular-economy technologies, which are to make environmental resources reusable and re-harness their initial potential.

In 2003, Enichem was renamed Syndial and appointed to manage the demolition and recovery of industrial sites, after having conferred production activities to Polimeri Europe. Many of these sites were “inherited” in the 1980s and 1990s as part of the bailout of other companies, when Eni was still owned by the Italian state.

Today, Eni Rewind is responsible for the remediation of all Eni’s plants and facilities in Italy, spanning upstream, refining, chemicals, logistics and service stations. Furthermore, it manages the disposal and recovery of industrial waste and has operated outside Italy since 2018. Eni Rewind’s business model is based on combining expertise, scientific research, the regeneration of recoverable resources and a constructive relationship with communities. The company manages environmental costs of over €800 million per year, with more than 200 sites and over 1000 people.

Eni Rewind has been engaged in extracting value from organic waste since 2018, with major investment projects that will make it possible to apply Eni’s proprietary Waste to Fuel technology on a large scale to transform organic fraction of municipal solid waste (FORSU) into energy and water.
