And then her aunt began whipping Amanda’s naked back again and again until it hurt like no other burning, stinging pain she had ever experienced before.

An avid fan of the paranormal, Frank Tropea published a novel that includes otherworldly characters. The story is centered on a teenage girl named Amanda “Mandy” Mannon who fell in love with William, the ghost of long-dead Confederate officer killed at Gettysburg.

Mandy also had a ghost friend, Lily, who helped her unravel the truth behind her mother’s disappearance. Lily first met Mandy when the latter was still young, but vowed to reveal more of herself when Mandy had grown mature enough. When Mandy turned fifteen, Lily appeared to her once again and guided her to the spot where the bones of her mother were left to rot. Mandy found out that her stepfather Ted Basker killed Aurelia, Mandy’s mother, so he can take advantage of her late wife’s vast property and wealth. Ted threatened to kill Mandy but Mandy was able to defend herself from the power of his abusive stepfather. Mandy survived and found solace through Lily’s guidance.

Lily assured Mandy that she would be safe under her great-aunt’s care, Lavinia Mannon. So, Mandy moved in to Lavinia’s mansion but with rigid conditions. One of those is that Mandy should stop communicating with spirits. One night, Lily visited Mandy and introduced him to William. William caressed Mandy in her room and Mandy moaned in pleasure. However, Lavinia heard her love noise, so she barged in on Mandy’s room and was shocked to see her disposition.

Lavinia punished Mandy for her filthy actions and whipped her back. That injured Mandy so much and made her furious at her great-aunt. With such immense injury inflicted, will Mandy able to forgive her great-aunt? Will she abandon Lavinia’s love and care forever and turn to the solicitude of the spirits completely? More revelations will be uncovered as Frank Tropea shares more of this story at the Miami Book Fair International.
