EMSL Corporate Headquarters Receives Updated State of North Carolina Drinking Water Certification

EMSL’s corporate headquarters has added radiological analysis parameters to its North Carolina drinking water certification. Naturally occurring Uranium is a very common radioactive element in the ground that lead to increased levels of gross alpha, uranium, radon and radium in your water. These radionuclides can contaminate private well water and create potential health concerns for the occupants of the houses.

Unlike community water systems, private wells are not regulated or routinely inspected for radionuclides. According to the U.S. Environmental protection Agency (EPA), approximately 15 percent of Americans use private wells as their main source of drinking water. To ensure their water supply is safe, owners of a private well should have their drinking water tested regularly for radionuclides.
