Rakuten, Inc. today announced that it will hold Rakuten Optimism 2019, the largest event in the history of the Rakuten Group, from Wednesday, July 31 to Saturday, August 3, 2019. This four-day conference will be held at the Pacifico Yokohama event center.

Rakuten Optimism is an event series designed to inspire visions of a shared brighter future, as well as deepen the understanding of the services and ideals underpinning the Rakuten Group ecosystem. On September 7, 2018, the inaugural Rakuten Optimism conference played host to over 2,000 people in San Francisco. Rakuten Optimism 2019 will be the first event in the series to be held in Japan. In line with the theme of “Welcome to the 5G era,” the 70+ services that comprise the Rakuten Group will collaborate to provide exhibitions and event booths in a free-entry area designed to surprise and delight visitors. The event will also feature a business conference with global keynote speakers, panel discussions and more, for which tickets will be made available for purchase later this month.

Future World: New discoveries at every turn
Future World is the free-to-enter exhibition portion of the event featuring event booths and more. Designed with interested visitors and casual shoppers in mind, this portion of the event is united under the common theme, “new discoveries at every turn.” Stop by and discover booths where visitors can discover unique experiences through a 5G lens, savor culinary delights from across Japan provided by merchants on Rakuten’s online shopping mall, Rakuten Ichiba, and even say hello to Rakuten’s official shopping mascot, Okaimono Panda. Visitors can enjoy a completely cashless experience with all purchases of food, drink and merchandise inside the event space.*1

Live performances from special guests are also planned for Friday, August 2 and Saturday, August 3. *2
