The wait is over for entrepreneurs who submitted their applications for Walmart’s 6th annual Open Call event, as hundreds received their invitations on May 17. These businesses will now start preparing for their trip to Walmart’s headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas June 18-19 to pitch their product face-to-face to a buyer for a chance to realize the American Dream.

“We are so excited and grateful to be chosen to travel to Bentonville, Arkansas to meet with the Walmart buyers, said TJ Brecheisen, owner of Coffee Roasters of Arizona. “This is an amazing opportunity to have our tea considered as a new item in Walmart. As a family business, this truly could open opportunities for our company that might not otherwise be possible.”

Attendees at this year’s Open Call event could secure deals ranging from a handful of local stores, to supplying hundreds or even thousands of stores, and Walmart.com. The two-day event informs, empowers and encourages all businesses who attend and provides a great networking opportunity.

An Extra Special Surprise
Walmart surprised 25 unsuspecting entrepreneurs across the country with their Open Call invitations in an extra special way: Each unsuspecting business owner was asked to come to their local Walmart store prepared to pitch their product to a store manager while the store manager was waiting with cake and balloons to share that their spot at the coveted event had already been secured. The reactions were emotional, as the big break these companies have been looking for was suddenly within reach.
