We are only less than a month out from the greatest outdoor festival known to man. A place where Average Joes can go head-to-head with seasoned pros. Where dogs can entertain the masses with perfectly timed dock jumps. Where concerts are free and yoga classes are encouraged. And most importantly, where families can gather to watch all the above ensue.

That’s right, the GoPro Mountain Games in Vail, Colorado, are just one short month away.

Here are a few things you can do to prep for the games start on June 6:

1. Become an athlete

The beauty of GoPro Mountain Games (GPMG) is that all the events are open to EVERYONE. The classics like kayaking, rock climbing and trail running will be out in full force again this year. But if you’re looking for something new, check out the new events on the block with fly fishing, angler-oarsman “Catch Wars,” and e-bikes.

2. Buy a dog

If you can name a better combination than dogs and GPMG, then we’ll give your doggo free entry for life. Vail Village turns into a dog-friendly paradise during GPMG—free-flowing water bowls, good-boy treats a plenty and from around the world to sniff.

*Pup-owners: Enter the Ultimate Mountain Dog Challenge before May 22 for the chance to win a VIP GPMG experience for two.

3. Find your jams

GPMG features three nights of FREE-fifty-free live music. You can find the full lineup here, and catch the acts live at 7:15pm in the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater. The mountains will be alive with the sound of music.

4. Practice saying “YES!”

There are demos for all the magical toys featured throughout Vail the weekend of GPMG. Bosch e-bikes, Onewheels, SUPs, zip-lines and slacklines are just a few of the activities that spectators can—and most certainly should—try their hand at. Also, if you can’t get enough slacking, be sure to check out a first this year with highlining in Solaris Plaza. It’s slacklining taken to all new heights.

5. Tune up the stroller

Nature Valley Adventure Village is basically everything for the adults mentioned above but available in pint-sized versions for all mountaineers-in-the-making to try. So park the stroller and explore for a bit. Afterword, you can burn rubber crusing the LL Bean Gear Town en route to see the pups play in Lionshead’s Go RVing Dog Town.

*This statement was not found scientifically, but it’s backed by GoPro. We just can’t vouch for all outdoor festival connoisseurs everywhere.
