Hallmark Joins USPS and Scholastic to “Show Someone You Care”

Company donates 300,000 custom greeting cards to elementary students, teachers and families

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – WEBWIRE

Hallmark is collaborating with the United States Postal Service and Scholastic for the “Show Someone You Care” program. Entering its third year, this program leverages National Card and Lettering Writing Month (April) as a teachable moment to encourage third and fourth grade students and their families to send handwritten notes to share love, show thanks and build connections. Hallmark designed and donated 300,000 custom greeting cards and envelopes to be distributed to more than 11,000 classrooms nationwide.

“Hallmark is here to help people put more care into the world,” said Lindsey Roy, Chief Marketing Officer, Hallmark Greetings. “We are proud to collaborate with the U.S. Postal Service and Scholastic to show children and families the power of a greeting card, and the profound and positive impact a handwritten note can have on someone’s life.”

The students, teachers and families will also have access to Hallmark’s Think.Make.Share blog – a blog from the creative studios at Hallmark. The blog post dedicated to National Card and Letter Writing Month features ideas and inspiration to help people write cards and letters – from reasons to reach out, to what to write, to etiquette for addressing envelopes.

“At heart, the U.S. Postal Service’s mission to bind the nation is all about connecting people. We are thrilled to join Scholastic and Hallmark in celebrating the rich lessons, artistry, and emotional value behind the written word,” said Christopher Karpenko, Executive Director of Brand Marketing, United States Postal Service.

“We are proud to be a part of the Show Someone You Care program,” says Chandra Turner, Executive Director of Scholastic National Partnerships. “It is an exceptional way to teach a digital-native generation of students the value of letter-writing, while also encouraging kindness and compassion.”
