Jeanne Ann Off publishes suspenseful equestrian novel “Acid and Bribery”

Jeanne Ann Off’s debut novel “Acid and Bribery” takes place at the Derbyrun Downs racetrack in Colorado. Kelsey, a sixteen-year-old aspiring horse trainer, works at the racetrack, where she bonds with Tomar El Oro, one of the best racehorses in the stables. She is friends to Saira, the daughter of the jockey who rides Tomar, and Blaine, the nineteen-year-old security guard on the racetrack grounds.
 
“Acid and Bribery” becomes exciting – and more suspenseful – when Tomar loses a race where the odds are in his favor. Kelsey discovers the screen to her favorite horse is torn. Later, when Tomar becomes sick, so do the other horses in the stables. Kelsey overhears a conspiracy plot to remove Tomar and shut down the Derbyrun Downs. She launches an investigation of her own while she also confronts a ghost of her past.
 
“Acid and Bribery” has been well received by book reviewers from different book review publications. Rachel Dehning, writing for Manhattan Book Review, commends the equestrian novel for its ‘simpler storyline.’ She remarked: “While this story was not too long, it was still able to provide a full storyline with suspense, suspects, and a little romance.”

Jeanne Ann Off took a book writing a course from Institute of Children’s Literature. She wrote “Acid and Bribery” with the help of Patricia Calvert and Terri Martini. Previously, her personal experience articles have been published in The Fence Post, including a feature article about the cowboys and ranch hands who worked on the cattle ranch where she grew up in Middle Park, Colorado.
