One of the best ways to help address California’s housing crisis is to permit more multi-family construction projects throughout the state.

(EMAILWIRE.COM ) – California’s housing crisis is well-known and acute. With skyrocketing home prices and rents and a burgeoning population that approaches 40 million people, many residents of the Golden State are struggling to find affordable homes, and homebuilders simply can’t build enough houses and apartments quickly enough to keep pace with the demand.

Many reasons for the lack of sufficient residential construction exist, but Governor Gavin Newsom has made it a priority for his administration to help encourage the construction of more houses and dwellings. In his recently released budget Newsom called for $1.7 Billion to be allocated for one-time and multi-year housing initiatives.

One portion of this hefty proposed sum, approximately $500 Million, is supposed to create more “moderate income” housing for California’s middle class homeowners and those who would like to own their own home someday. Newsom called on wealthy tech companies in Silicon Valley and others to match this sum to help create more housing for their potential employees and customers.

Modular, Factory-Built Homes To The Rescue?

One portion of the construction industry that is growing rapidly to help meet the demand for new homes in California is so-called “modular housing” wherein structures or either completely built inside a factory by traditional construction workers, or as units that are later assembled on-site to form a larger structure from ‘modules.’

One Northern California company specializing in these types of buildings for Accessory Dwelling Units (or ADUs) and for multi-family projects like apartment buildings and mixed-use commercial and retail projects is California Modulars (www.CaliforniaModulars.com).

“Managing residential and commercial construction projects in California is always a challenge, and we make it easier and faster for our developer partners and individual homeowners by providing them more control and more predictable timelines over the construction of their buildings by doing it in our well-managed factory in Stockton, California,” said company President Roy Krautstrunk

“One of the best ways to help address California’s housing crisis is to permit more multi-family construction projects throughout the state, and we’re ready to expand our production as much as necessary to meet the needs of developers and homeowners,” said Krautstrunk.
