MICHELIN Agilis CrossClimate Tire: all-year-round mobility for commercial vehicles and small trucks

After passenger vehicles, the MICHELIN CrossClimate range has extended to small trucks and light commercial vehicles with MICHELIN Agilis CrossClimate tires. These winter-certified summer tires guarantee safety in all weather conditions.

Improved longevity, robustness and drivability are also the key characteristics of this innovation that ensures damage resistance and safety whatever the weather.

This new tire has been designed on the basis of the needs of end users, responding to two key consumer requirements:

only one set of tires that offers year-round mobility, whatever the weather conditions
damage-resistant sides
The MICHELIN Agilis CrossClimate tire meets these requirements thanks to a strengthened tired tread, using innovative rubber compounds. The sides and shoulders have also been reinforced to better protect against damage.

With the 3 Peak Mountain Snow Flake (3PMSF) mark – illustrated by a snowflake inside a mountain with 3 peaks –, the MICHELIN Agilis CrossClimate tire is certified for snow use. Thanks to a cutting-edge rubber blend, braking and lifetime are guaranteed to be identical to those of a summer tire on dry and wet roads.

The components used give the rubber and the tread flexibility, even when frozen. The multiple layers and the composition of this particularly innovative blend help reduce heat transfer to the inside of the tire.

Inspired by the MICHELIN CrossClimate+ car tire, the V-shaped tread pattern is an innovative combination of high-tech treads. They contain self-blocking two-directional sipes that form incisal edges that catch the snow and ice for improved grip on difficult winter surfaces.
Not only do the new rubber and V-shaped tread provide grip in all conditions, they also extend the tire’s life. DEKRA’s tests have demonstrated that the tire lasts 35% longer compared to summer, winter and all-season competitor products.

The improved resistance to damage comes from the addition of 1.5 mm thick trapezoidal blocks around the shoulders and the upper sides of the tire. These blocks and the rubber they are made of come from the all-terrain MICHELIN range for military trucks; they bolster the tire’s protection without altering the flexibility of the frame.

A WINTER TIRE AND A SUMMER TIRE

The MICHELIN Agilis CrossClimate tire is not simply an all-season tire. It also offers all the advantages of a summer tire in terms of longevity, fuel economy and braking on a wet surface and the advantages of a winter tire in cold weather on wet and snow-covered roads. An A-grade tire in winter and summer.

A COMPLETE RANGE

With MICHELIN CrossClimate+, MICHELIN CrossClimate SUV and MICHELIN Agilis CrossClimate, today MICHELIN has a complete and high-performance range of tires for passenger vehicles, SUVs, small trucks and commercial vehicles whatever the weather conditions and the terrain. This range is our response to the expectations of our consumers, users who want to drive in perfect safety throughout the lifetime of their tires, save money using the tires until their legal wear limit and use less fuel thanks to a decrease in rolling resistance.
Available since January 2017, the MICHELIN CrossClimate+ tire is available for 15-inch and 18-inch wheels. There are also MICHELIN CrossClimate tires for 14-inch rims and MICHELIN CrossClimate SUV tires available in specific sizes and versions for SUV-type vehicles – up to 20 inches. The MICHELIN CrossClimate+ tire confirms the performances of the MICHELIN CrossClimate tire on dry roads and its positioning as a premium summer tire. However, unlike its predecessor, it goes even further in terms of winter performance, guaranteeing excellent drivability on snow-covered ground. CrossClimate+ was voted the 2017-2018 best all-season tire by Auto Express in the UK and the 2017 best SUV all-season tire in Germany by Auto Bild Allrad.
