Former Sony Music Exec Mary Nuñez Appointed Vice President, Sync - Latin at Warner/Chappell Music Latin America

Company Advances its Global Latin Business with Newly Created Role


Warner/Chappell Music, the music publishing arm of Warner Music Group, today announced that Mary Nuñez will assume the newly created role of Vice President, Sync - Latin, as the company fortifies its Latin songwriters’ presence in the global marketplace. Nuñez joins from Sony Music, where she spent more than a decade leading music licensing and creative services for the Latin Iberia region.

Nuñez is based in Miami and reports to Gustavo Menendez, President, Warner/Chappell Music, Latin America. In support of the company’s sync efforts in the overall U.S. market, she will also be part of Warner/Chappell’s U.S. Sync team run by Ron Broitman, EVP, Head of Synchronization.

In her previous role as Vice President of Music Licensing & Creative Services for Sony Music Entertainment Latin Iberia, Nuñez was responsible for managing music licensing and synchronization for Latin placements across the U.S. Latin market. Under her watch, sync became a core emerging revenue source for the label’s international territories in Latin America, Spain, and Portugal. Some of her recent sync deals include placing The Clash’s “Should I Stay or Should I Go” in P&G’s Pantene commercials, and a collaboration between Target and Colombian artist Bomba Estereo featuring the breakthrough hit, “Soy Yo" In 2015, she received a Billboard Latin Music Marketing Award for her work on an integrated campaign with international superstar Romeo Santos and Dr. Pepper.

Before Sony, Nuñez worked for BMG Music Publishing in Los Angeles, where she established key relationships with post-production houses and multi-national companies throughout Latin America. Prior to that, she spent several years developing sales and marketing strategies for top-tier international hoteliers, including Chris Blackwell’s Island Outpost Hotels, Sheraton’s The Luxury Collection Hotels, and Hilton International.

Nuñez is fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
