Steve McManus Writes Suspense and Thrill-Seeking Journey Book

Steve McManus’ “Red Flag,” the first book of the “CODA” series “City of Angels/Dead on Arrival” will take you to a suspense and thrill-seeking journey in finding out who enjoys the sight of wildfires slowly eating up the LA forests.

Los Angeles crime blogger and courtroom artist Danny Kasho receives a tip urging him to get to Malibu where a major wildfire has erupted. Danny’s blog, ‘Red Flag’ is the preeminent source for news on a series of fires set by an arsonist that have laid siege to Southern California’s drought-stricken forests – and now killed five people outright in the mountains above Malibu.

Danny discovers that the task force created to catch the suspect has fractured. The two lead investigators each secretly believes the other is the so-called Angeles Arsonist. Danny quickly finds himself caught in the middle of his own story – between uncertain loyalties, unceasing competition, and a killer with a homemade flamethrower determined to crown the bone-dry mountains around LA with flames.

Like fires burning in the wild, will Danny’s curiosity continue to ignite to find out who the real enemy is? Or will he eventually cool down once he comes face to face with the arsonist?

Steve McManus was born in Brampton, Ontario in 1970 and grew up in Calgary, Alberta. He wrote his first mystery novel while attending the University of Missouri – Columbia as a music major, and continued writing after he moved to Los Angeles where he became the drummer for rock band Darling Violetta, which released three CD’s, appeared on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and performed the theme song to the hit spinoff series Angel.
