New OmniVision System Helps Transportation Companies Better Manage Fleet Logistics and Enhance Driver Productivity

SAN DIEGO — October 30, 2006 — QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), a leading provider of business-to-business wireless enterprise applications and services, today announced the commercial availability of the new OmniVision System for Transportation, the next-generation wireless enterprise system for the transportation and logistics industry. Based on the all-new OmniVision™ mobile computing platform, the flexible, scalable system has been engineered from the ground up to help fleet operators improve efficiency, better manage fleet logistics, enhance driver safety and productivity, and improve driver satisfaction and retention. The OmniVision system is on display at this week’s American Trucking Associations’ Management Conference & Exhibition in Dallas.

The OmniVision platform, a framework of hardware, software and network infrastructure, enables delivery of two-way data communications and value-added services to enterprises in a mobile environment. Specifically designed for the transportation and logistics industry, the OmniVision System for Transportation incorporates industry-specific features and capabilities into that framework, including a growing number of optional value-added services. The OmniVision system includes hardware components, such as a satellite data modem with integrated GPS and a media display unit, as well as essential firmware and software, and the security in knowing that QUALCOMM systems integrate with back office systems from the leading transportation management software service providers.

The OmniVision platform enables fleets to enjoy a host of new features and benefits while using value-added services available for current QUALCOMM mobile systems. Advanced text-to-speech capability helps ensure driver safety and productivity by allowing drivers to listen to and replay messages, eliminating the need to stop the vehicle and pull over to read a text message. The platform also features an integrated, color touch-screen and a remote control device, providing drivers quick access to critical information such as messages read by the text-to-speech feature.

“The new OmniVision system represents a major step forward in optimizing transportation efficiency,” said Norm Ellis, vice president and general manager of transportation and logistics for QUALCOMM Wireless Business Solutions. “Its state-of-the art capabilities help our customers further improve productivity and reduce operational costs so they can achieve and exceed their business goals. With early commitments to adopt the OmniVision system from both current and new customers, we are pleased that our clients recognize the enhanced value of the system’s expanded capabilities.”

Customers already integrating the system into their fleet operations include A. Duie Pyle, Ash Trucking, Cargo Transporters, Carter Express, Chief Express, Contract Freighters Inc. (CFI), D&D Sexton, Davis Transfer, G&P, HT Bar Inc., H & W Trucking, Ohio Oil, Panther II, South East Carriers and Stewart Transport Inc.

“We are excited to be using the new OmniVision system,” said John Pope, CEO of Cargo Transporters. “Several of our drivers have already mentioned how much they like the OmniVision system’s new hardware and services. The new features and capabilities, such as over-the-air-upgrades, will add more flexibility to our operations and greatly enhance the benefits we’ve long enjoyed from working with QUALCOMM.”

The OmniVision system helps companies better manage fleet logistics with enhanced management tools that allow back office users to create and modify operational profiles, view recommended hardware for a profile, request an evaluation of a service and more. In addition, the OmniVision system supports value-added services such as automated arrival and departure, hours of service and SensorTRACS performance monitoring.

The upcoming Navigation Service, available after the initial launch of the system, will offer turn-by-turn directions that can be read to the driver using the system’s text-to-speech capability and features truck attributes and truck-approved routing, further enhancing safety and productivity. Overall fleet productivity also is increased with the OmniVision system because many subscription-based services can be activated and upgraded over the air to a single truck, group of trucks or an entire fleet so vehicles can stay on the road while receiving the latest software. Additionally, because the system is compatible with the OmniTRACS® and OmniExpress® mobile communications systems and the T2 Untethered TrailerTRACS® asset management system, customers can easily incorporate the latest technology into their fleets in a way that is right for them.

“QUALCOMM’s OmniVision system surpasses our needs and we believe will help us to improve our business,” said Herb Schmidt, president and CEO of CFI. “Using the OmniVision system enables us to best enhance our drivers’ quality of life, as well as the efficiency and effectiveness of our business operations, through productivity and safety features such as the text-to-speech capability and the user-friendly graphic interface. Additionally, the Navigation Service will offer us a new level of support because the map data includes more truck-relevant information than any other system currently available. Our drivers are so excited about the enhanced capabilities that they are already requesting the OmniVision system.”

The OmniVision system is available exclusively from QUALCOMM. For more information, please call 1-800-348-7227 or visit online at www.jillknowsOmniVision.com.
