Air Force Veteran Clarence Vold publishes biography

The former farm boy shares details of his life from childhood in rural America to his career in the Air Force.

Yuba City California – WEBWIRE

An autobiography that reflects the life and thoughts of an Air Force serviceman, a grandson of Norwegian immigrants.

Clarence E. ‘Kip” Vold, an Air Force veteran of Norwegian descent, published his autobiography titled “Farmer’s Son, Military Career” (Page Publishing, 2015). He got the idea to write his autobiography after the death of his brother, when his wife suggested he write down some thoughts about his life. “Too many people would tell that part of the story about me in about eight words, ‘He served thirty years in the Air Force,’ and my story is far more detailed than that,” said the author.

“Farmer’s Son, Military Career” details the author’s life from South Dakota to his Air Force career. “This is the story of my life as best I can remember,” said Vold about his book. “These are my recollections and others may remember these occasions differently. I have not tried to include everything that has happened in my life but have chosen those items that either I remember best or seem the most interesting to me.”

While “Farmer’s Son, Military Career” is the story of the author’s life, it is also partly a history of his family on both sides. Vold tells his readers how his paternal grandparents ended up in South Dakota instead of Seattle, their original destination, how his parents, met, where they got their characteristic traits from, why they never spoke Norwegian at home, how difficult it was for him to sell the farm after his father’s death, among other personal and family stories.

The family history is just one part of Vold’s narrative in his book but plays a lasting impact on his life. He wrote more than just a charming and interesting biography but a legacy.

Clarence E. ‘Kip” Vold’s “Farmer’s Son, Military Career” will soon be displayed in the upcoming 2018 Frankfurt International Book Fair on Oct. 10 to 14, 2018 at Frankfurt, Germany.
