William Howard Palmer Jr. honors his dad and his comrades by putting together ‘We Called Ourselves Rocketboatmen: The Untold Stories of the Top-Secret LCS(S) Rocket Boat Missions of World War II at Sicily, Normandy (Omaha and Utah Beaches), and Southern France,’ a collection of memoirs from the journals and accounts of the rocketboatmen, whose operation remained top secret for a little more than half a century.

William Howard Palmer Jr. honors his dad and his comrades by putting together We Called Ourselves Rocketboatmen: The Untold Stories of the Top-Secret LCS(S) Rocket Boat Missions of World War II at Sicily, Normandy (Omaha and Utah Beaches), and Southern France,” a collection of memoirs from the journals and accounts of the rocketboatmen, whose operation remained top secret for a little more than half a century.

Their stories reveal the true reflection of World War II, which is how individual heroism is attained from the visibly violent conflict of man versus man to the invisible but most important struggle of man versus himself, all while being entrusted with facing the enemy undauntingly and courageously in a covert operation. As soon as you read how they carried out their seaborne invasion, you will feel like you were on the shores of Normandy, evolving into a WWII hero.

This book teaches other lessons from D-Day. One of them is regardless of how perfect a war plan seems, it can be challenged by environmental forces, the state of the human heart, and the true capacity of armaments and communication.

During the Book Expo America (held May 30 to June 1, 2018 at the Javits Center, New York City), several Litfire published materials were on display. Book Expo America is an event wherein new titles, bestseller authors, neo literary stars, and VIPs in publishing are within reach, some of whom conducted conferences and seminars on self-publishing, and one of the books displayed in the LitFire Publishing booth was none other than “We Called Ourselves Rocketboatmen.”
