“The content of the poems has strong, literary merit for many readers. The creativity and the skill of the author shines through loud and bright.” - M.Dwyer, Reviewer

This thought-provoking book, Hurry, Hurry, My Children!” is not just for children. Labertha Darensbourg-McCormick (also known as Mweka Imani) shares compilations of poems that are relatable to everyone. The poems and scriptures taken from the King James Version of the Bible, according to Imani, are meant to raise a person’s awareness on how to wisely repurpose his or her time on earth and to encourage those who experience life’s hopeless situations.

The author warns readers that some words may seem abrasive, but she promises that the poems have a touch of humor. Readers can expect comfort and reassurance from “Hurry, Hurry, My Children!” It also carries the author’s illustrations. It has more than 100 poems that talk about listening to elders, powers to heal, broken promises, and more. Imani says she intends to make one be aware of how unique one’s life is and that it must resonate and affect other people in a beautiful way.

The book gained a five-star rating from D.A.M, a reviewer, who said, “The poetic phrases are candid, swift, engaging, profound, and colorful.” Another reviewer, M. Dwyer, said: “The content of the poems has strong, literary merit for many readers. The creativity and the skill of the author shines through loud and bright.” According to Imani, the book’s primary purpose is not to show readers how she plays with words in her poems, but to mainly promote healing of a person’s soul in one way or another.
