Ingrid Kvaal Narrates the Brutal Truth in the Lives of World War II Captives

With the blunt threat of another world war, this book is a must-read for everyone, if only this could reach the minds of the political leaders, which will remind them of the destructive effects of the war not only on the national level but especially on the personal lives of the citizens who will be those to suffer. Ingrid von Albert-Kvaal, indeed, wrote a book that will frankly remind the people of this generation on how they should just thankfully live compared to the conditions that those youth in the world war had to endure inhuman situations, which for most instances were themselves much the same with death.
 
“Trail of Pebbles: No Time to Cry” tells the life of the author’s aunt, Gisela von Albert-Sato, and her husband Shinichi Sato as they go through the aftermath of the World War II. For them, the war had not ended. Together with the rest of the captives and other civilians, they went through series of confinement across Eastern Europe, Siberia and Asia and endlessly experienced merciless abuses, murders and even rapes. Ingrid did a remarkable achievement in fictionalizing the emotions of terror of the characters as well as the embellishment of the frightening “conducts of humans.”
 
Ingrid Kvaal’s “Trail of Pebbles: No Time to Cry” was displayed in 2018 New York Rights Fair.
