The Love of Animals Teaches Us Best How to Love

“Poodle Mistress” by Sandi Latimer

Sandi met a handsome pilot Red Latimer in 1973, and was amazed that this outdoors-type of man was raising toy poodles. It was hard to tell whose love was stronger -- that of Sandi and Red or their love for the dogs as well as the dogs’ love for them. When Sandi married Red, she also became the mistress to the poodles. As in many marriages, the family increased; this time the canine family.

“Poodle Mistress” is a memoir that shares the joy as well as grief of a couple’s journey with their beloved dogs. Thrill to the antics, such as Zeke eating a tulip, Maggie giving birth on Sandi’s lap, or Shane climbing the wheel of the bike to get into the basket. Wipe a tear or two as one by one nine poodles cross the Rainbow Bridge. And the yellow rose, a symbol of love, appears.  This love impacted the couple’s lives so much that the memories they spent together are preserved with happiness.

Laugh and cry as you become engrossed in Sandi Latimer’s story “Poodle Mistress” on display at the BookExpo New Title Showcase on May 31- June 3, 2018, in New York, NY.
