About the Author
David C. Corbett, retired from the United States Marine Corps as a full colonel in 1990. During his twenty-eight years of flying fighter jets, he commanded five organizations including a Harrier squadron, a Support Group, and a Marine Air Ground Task Force. He began writing professionally in 1986 for a regional magazine, Carolina Cruising. It was during his early writing career that he also appeared in Naval Proceeding and the Naval Air Safety Publication, Approach. Beyond his flying abilities, Corbett is an avid sailor, which led to having articles published in a variety of sailing oriented magazines. In 1991, he became the Associate Editor for Coastal Cruising Magazine, remaining in that position until 1996. As the Associate Editor, he wrote a variety of columns under his own byline. After cruising in the Bahamas and traveling the United States for several years, he and his wife, Donna, have settled down in New Bern, NC.
