Oracle(r) Warehouse Builder 10g Release 2 Makes Solid Move into Information Quality Market

According to Independent Research Firm, Oracle Warehouse Builder 10g Is Attractive to Customers Because of Its Functionality and Price

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. 18-OCT-2006 According to the recently published Forrester Research report, “Oracle is Off to a Solid Start in Information Quality with Oracle Warehouse Builder,” Oracle now occupies a place at the table among IQ (Information Quality) software vendors. (1)

This report, written by Forrester Senior Analyst J. Paul Kirby, assesses the features of Oracle(r) Warehouse Builder 10g Release 2, made generally available July 2006. According to the report, Oracle Warehouse Builder 10g Release 2 combines extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) capabilities with IQ functionality. In addition, the report outlines the key IQ features of Oracle Warehouse Builder 10g Release 2 spanning custom format standardization, multi-algorithm matching, ongoing auditing and monitoring and enhanced data profiling capabilities.

In the report, Kirby states that Oracle Warehouse Builder 10g Release 2, “includes significantly more information quality capabilities than previous releases,” and that the tool, “will be attractive to customers because of its functionality and price. Enterprise architects should include [Oracle Warehouse Builder] on their list of [IQ] offerings to evaluate as part of enterprise information quality initiatives.”

The report also features a pricing evaluation, and highlights that Oracle Warehouse Builder offers customers, “a genuine bargain,” providing both IQ and ETL functionalities at no additional cost to customers with an Oracle Database 10g license. The study concludes with Kirby’s assessment of Oracle’s strategy within the IQ market, “Oracle is wise to invest in IQ; combining data integration and IQ in a single product adds value to both.”
