Elizabeth Rea’s Closure sets the standards in psychic detective fiction.

Though the crime fiction world has featured countless female cops and detectives as protagonists, it’s not often that the novels or the genre itself casts her as someone with special abilities that could aid her in her work. Psychologist, former teacher and counselor Elizabeth Rea just did that.
Rea published her police procedural Closure: A Kate Jeffers Novel, the first in a planned series of books featuring Kate Jeffers, a freelance detective with psychic abilities who works with the Atlanta Metro police. She was still young when she found out she had the ‘gift’; after one incident at school, she decided she had to be very careful about using it. As she grew up, she pondered what to do with her psychic abilities.
“As I went through high school and later college, I knew I needed to find a safe, legitimate way to use my ability. I guess that’s one reason I became a cop,” said the viewpoint character Kate in the first chapter of Closure.
The detective fiction novel follows Kate as she and her cohorts, which includes a bouncer (Ronnie), a bartender (Papa), a flirty woman (Glory), and her superior (Lieutenant Whitaker), as they race against time to solve the kidnapping of 8-year-old Eddie, who belongs to an influential family.
As Kate digs through the case, she comes across a thirteen-year-old cold case involving a car wreck that killed her parents when she was twelve. Something tells her they were murdered. She wonders what has a drug lord (Mancini) got to do with her parents’ death and if things are somewhat connected to the kidnapping. Kate investigates to find closure.
Closure is an engrossing, well-crafted detective fiction novel that is fast-paced with short, snappy chapters and abounds in colorful characters and exciting crime-busting narrative. Readers of thrillers and suspense novels should not miss the first book in the ‘Kate Jeffers’ psychic detective series
